Mixing Materials- Experimental Exploration of Materials

Our process began exploring textiles in combination with other materials and epoxy resins to be able to create a fabric that was both soft and rigid.

In our further explorations we designed structures using our own textile design that was designed to be self-carrying only by the woven fabric itself.

The textile is a mix of wool yarns and thermoplastic yarns that is baked in an oven after it has been sewn.

The Lounge chair has a lively and flowery front while the back is strict, yet colourful in its transition from the purple and almost metallic looking textile to the subtle grey wool. The Lounge chairs design illustrates the textiles construction abilities by its transparent structure and at the same gives the shadow a subtle pattern.
